Minnie Driver is “surprised” she has only one child.

The 40-year-old actress grew up dreaming of having a large family and still hopes to have siblings for her 18-month-old son Henry.

Minnie - who refuses to name Henry’s father - said: “Growing up, I thought I’d have at least five kids. I’m surprised I have only one; I really want more.”

The British star never intended to wait so long before having children, but insists she has no regrets about how her life has turned out.

She added to the Times Online website: “It was never the right time, right place or right person. Too many women put it off until everything is in place, but there’s never a perfect time, is there?

“I wouldn’t change a thing about what I’ve done in the past because what may have been bad choices have all led me to this moment. I’m incredibly happy because I’ve got my beautiful baby and lovely partner. Everybody is cool with the situation.”

Minnie recently returned to the UK to film a new drama, ‘The Deep’, and while she was delighted to see her friends and family, insists she would never bring Henry up outside of California.

She said: “It’s been great for Henry to spend time with his cousins. Could I move back? No.

“I live my life outdoors, surfing, hiking, riding and running along the beach in the sunshine, having barbecues; even though I miss home, I could cheap flights Ballina to Hobart do the things I wanted to, personally and professionally.”

Welcome to opening Friday on Page 2. Technically, this is the second appearance of this column, which is about all things gambling - sports wagering, horse racing, poker and casino games. Some of you may have noticed the actual debut was last Sunday but that was without the catchy name.
And let me say right now how excited and honored I was when I learned that I’d be sharing the same page every Friday with the great Gonzo. I mean, he’s always been one of my favorite Muppets.
Today’s topic typifies the intersection of sports and gambling.
Orel "Bulldog" Hershiser, formerly of Cherry Hill East in South Jersey, wrote his name into the Major League record books when, in 1988, he won the National League Cy Young Award, the NLCS MVP and the World Series MVP.
Al "Sugar Bear" Barbieri, formerly of then-Bishop Neumann High School in South Philly, etched his name into Atlantic League lore when, in 2003, as a 44-year-old designated hitter, he singled in his first at-bat in his only game for the Camden Riversharks.
Hershiser and Barbieri, now both 51, still compete on an emerald field of dreams. But these days, it’s made of felt.
In retirement, Hershiser, an ESPN baseball analyst, has become a savvy poker player and today, he makes his third start in the NBC National Heads-up Poker Championship at Caesars Palace that features some of the game’s top names.
A poker pro since the 1990s, Barbieri pulled off a genuinely impressive poker feat last month when he won three events, including the grueling Ironman tournament, at the L.A. Poker Classic at the Commerce Casino.
But here’s where the loose parallels end.
For Hershiser, poker is about continuing to stoke the competitive fires and having a little fun.
For Barbieri, poker is about survival.

Justin Timberlake ran his refreshingly low-key William Rast show with precision: no crush of frenzied fans outside the venue, Cedar Lake in Chelsea; no packs of paparazzi; and no drama checking in guests — everyone had a seat, no shoving, no standing. The show started on time; Anna Wintour was so happy, she removed her sunglasses. Mid-show, we saw her nod hello to someone across the aisle; she even smiled! Classical violinist Joshua Bell cheerfully admitted he was definitely the most random of fashion-show attendees. “I’m here with my friend, she’s in fashion and she brings me to things like this every once in a while,” he said, and actually burst out laughing at the absurdity of his attendance.

Justin conveniently scheduled his after-party for three hours later — what must have been a cooler time — despite holding it at the conveniently located Hudson Terrace, which is practically in the river. The icy wind is, uh, bracing in February. Here the vibe was cool, but somewhat less friendly. Guests shivered in the check-in line, including Twilight star and Calvin Klein underwear model Kellan Lutz, who was kept waiting for a good five minutes while organizers consulted their lists and mumbled into their headsets. John P. Murtha, 77, the powerful dean of Pennsylvania’s congressional delegation who survived scandal and seismic political shifts to become the longest-serving House member from the state, died yesterday at a hospital in Arlington, Va., after complications from gallbladder surgery.
Presiding over what became "the Murtha Corner" in the House, he wielded power quietly, working deals for his party’s leadership, advising members on everything from defense spending to how to line up money for their districts. His 36 years in Congress were marked by extraordinary access to presidents of both parties.
Republicans and Democrats alike sought his advice on defense matters, and from his perch on the House Appropriations defense subcommittee, he personally dispensed billions of dollars in federal funds, steering much of it to his economically wracked 12th Congressional District.
He was revered in his district, never receiving less than 55 percent of the vote in a general election since he first went to the House. He initially became famous as the first Vietnam combat veteran to serve in Congress - and, later, as one of the kings of congressional pork.
Tributes were immediate.
"His passion for service was born during his decorated career in the United States Marine Corps, and he went on to earn the distinction of being the first Vietnam War combat veteran elected to Congress," President Obama said in a statement. "Jack’s tough-as-nails reputation carried over to Congress, where he became a respected voice on issues of national security."
Gov. Rendell ordered state flags throughout Pennsylvania to be flown at half-staff until the burial.
"That is fitting," Rendell said. "Jack Murtha was not just a wonderful congressman for his district, but for all of Pennsylvania."
